Put a Halt to Procrastination Patterns

      · Business and Career

      Dear Luminous Leader,

Procrastination is predictable. It has certain features such as justifying excuses or using distractions to avoid tension.

To put a halt to these patterns you need to know the signs.

One way to do this is to create a procrastination log. This allows you to evaluate what is happening and begin developing ways to prevent it.

A procrastination log is simply a journal or diary you record in whenever you catch yourself putting off a priority task.

You can use an old- school pen and notebook, an app on your electronic device or a fancy journal or diary.

Here is what to include in your journal:

      • Record or describe what you are putting off-task, project, goal
      • Include what you were feeling and thinking when you started to delay
      • What you are doing instead-non-important tasks, watching TV, reading, etc.
      • The results-what happened, how you felt

You can record what you are doing as you are procrastinating by using a separate page for each situation. That way you can compare similarities and differences between each event.

There is no right or wrong way to do a procrastination log. Create one that works for you.

After six weeks of recording your procrastination occurrences -or sooner- you will begin to see the patterns that will help you know what habits you need to change.

      Until next time,

      ~ CBB
